Jewel-toned journeys
My mixed media decorative works are of an elemental and symbolic nature. They are often crafted to resemble ancient picture tablets and Byzantine artifacts, with formal design and richly gilded and decorated surfaces.
My figurative works often engage with the notions of journeying and travelling- physically and metaphorically. These works delve loosely into a contemplation on time, memory and the movement from one stratum of existence to the next.
Rich colours, and surfaces embellished with stitch, metal and multiple layers of paint and textures create a jewel-like effect.
